Goal: To connect Google Search Console and retrieve its data in Google Analytics.
Ideal Outcome: Google Search Console data accessible inside Google Analytics.
Prerequisites: You need to have Google Search Console & Google Analytics enabled for your domain. Check our tutorial 3, tutorial 4, and tutorial 8 on how to do that.
Why this is important: You will be able to take advantage of Google Analytics reporting features and check all Google Search Console reports data in one place.
Where this is done: In Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
When this is done: Only once. Ideally, as soon as possible once you enabled Google Search Console and set up Google Analytics on your website.
Who does this: The person responsible of SEO and/or Analytics at your company.
Let’s get started. In 5 minutes you will be able to gather all of your, Google Search Console data in Google Analytics.
How to Connect Google Search Console to Google Analytics
Checking if Google Search Console is linked to Google Analytics
- Go to your Google Analytics account.
Make sure you log in with Google Account associated with Google Analytics Account you want to link with Google Search Console.
- Choose your “Main View” or “All Website Data”
- Click on “Acquisition”.
- Then choose “Landing Pages” under “Search Console”.
- If you find a message like the one below, then you need to move to the next step. If you don’t see this page then skip to the last chapter of this tutorial.
Linking Google Search Console
- In your Google Analytics Account click on “Admin”.
- Then in your “Property” tab click on “Property Settings”.
- Click on “Adjust Search Console” at the bottom of the page.
- Click on “Add”.
- Select the website you want to link with your Google Analytics.
- Press “Save”.
- Click “OK” in the pop-up window.
- You will be redirected to your Google Search Console tool.
- Go back to your Google Analytics account and click on “Done”.
After linking your Google Search Console to Google Analytics you will receive a confirmation email from Google Search Console Team.
Checking your website data in Google Analytics
- Go to your Google Analytics account.
- Choose your “Main View” (or “All Website Data”)
- On the left side menu click on “Acquisition” → “Search Console” → “Landing Pages”.
- Now you should be able to see Google Search Console data reports.
Your Google Search Console data can now be reviewed in Google Analytics. It is an amazing way to keep track of your SEO Efforts in one place.
